“Satyameva Jayate” (Truth Alone Triumphs) is a mantra from the ancient Indian scripture Mundaka Upanishad. Upon independence of India, it was adopted as the national motto of India. It is inscribed in Devanagari script at the base of the national emblem. The emblem and words ‘Satyameva Jayate’ are inscribed on one side of all Indian currency. The emblem is an adaptation of the Lion Capital of Asoka which was erected around 250 BC at Sarnath, near Varanasi in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. /”सत्यमेव जयते” (सत्य की अकेले की जीत) प्राचीन भारतीय ग्रंथ मुंडक उपनिषद का एक मंत्र है। भारत की स्वतंत्रता के बाद, इसे भारत के राष्ट्रीय आदर्श वाक्य के रूप में अपनाया गया था। यह राष्ट्रीय प्रतीक के आधार पर देवनागरी लिपि में अंकित है। सभी भारतीय मुद्रा के एक तरफ ‘सत्यमेव जयते’ का प्रतीक और शब्द अंकित हैं। प्रतीक अशोक की शेर राजधानी का एक रूपांतर है जिसे उत्तर भारतीय राज्य उत्तर प्रदेश में वाराणसी के पास सारनाथ में लगभग 250 ईसा पूर्व बनाया गया था।
