Ellora represents the epitome of Indian rock-cut architecture. The 34 “caves” – actually structures excavated out of the vertical face of the Charanandri hills. Buddhist, Hindu and Jain rock-cut temples and viharas and mathas were built between the 5th century and 10th century. The 12 Buddhist (caves 1– 12), 17 Hindu (caves 13–29) and 5 Jain (caves 30– 34) caves, built in proximity, demonstrate the religious harmony prevalent during this period of Indian history. / एलोरा भारतीय रॉक-कट वास्तुकला के प्रतीक का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है। 34 “गुफाएं” – वास्तव में चरणनंदरी पहाड़ियों के ऊर्ध्वाधर चेहरे से खुदाई की गई संरचनाएं। बौद्ध, हिंदू और जैन रॉक-कट मंदिर और विहार और मठ 5 वीं शताब्दी और 10 वीं शताब्दी के बीच बनाए गए थे। 12 बौद्ध (गुफाएं  1 – 12 ), 17  हिंदू (गुफाएं 13-29) और  जैन (गुफाएं 30-34) गुफाएं, निकटता में निर्मित, भारतीय इतिहास की इस अवधि के दौरान प्रचलित धार्मिक सद्भाव को प्रदर्शित करती हैं।
