The Ghadar Party, initially the Pacific Coast Hindustan Association, was formed in 1913 in the United States under the leadership of Har Dayal, with Sohan Singh Bhakna as its president. The members of the party were Indian immigrants, largely from Punjab. Many of its members were students at University of California at Berkeley including Dayal, Tarak Nath Das, Maulavi Barkatullah, Kartar Singh Sarabha and V.G. Pingle. The party quickly gained support from Indian expatriates, especially in the United States, Canada and Asia. The party was built around the weekly paper The Ghadar, which carried the caption on the masthead: Angrezi Raj Ka Dushman (an enemy of the British rule). The first issue of The Ghadar was published from San Francisco on November 1, 1913. /  गदर पार्टी, शुरू में पैसिफिक कोस्ट हिंदुस्तान एसोसिएशन, का गठन 1913 में संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में हर दयाल के नेतृत्व में किया गया था, जिसके अध्यक्ष सोहन सिंह भकना थे। पार्टी के सदस्य भारतीय अप्रवासी थे, मुख्यतः पंजाब से। दयाल, तारक नाथ दास, मौलवी बरकतुल्लाह, करतार सिंह सराभा और वी.जी. पिंगले। पार्टी को शीघ्र ही भारतीय प्रवासियों से समर्थन प्राप्त हुआ, विशेषकर संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका, कनाडा और एशिया में। पार्टी का निर्माण साप्ताहिक अखबार द ग़दर के इर्द-गिर्द किया गया था, जिसमें मास्टहेड पर कैप्शन था: अंगरेजी राज का दुश्मन (ब्रिटिश शासन का दुश्मन)। ग़दर का पहला अंक 1 नवंबर, 1913 को सैन फ्रांसिस्को से प्रकाशित हुआ था।
