Jawaharlal Nehru inaugurated the first generation of panchayat raj at Nagaur in Rajasthan on 2 October 1959. It was also implemented in Andhra Pradesh in the same year as per the recommendations of the Balwant Rai Mehta Committee. / जवाहरलाल नेहरू ने 2 अक्टूबर 1959 को राजस्थान के नागौर में पंचायत राज की पहली पीढ़ी का उद्घाटन किया। बलवंत राय मेहता समिति की सिफारिशों के अनुसार इसे उसी वर्ष आंध्र प्रदेश में भी लागू किया गया था।
