लाफिंग गैस फार्मूला –  

लाफिंग गैस (Laughing gas) को ही हिन्दी में हास्य गैस कहा जाता है जिसका रासायनिक फार्मूला (Chemical formula) N2O होता है। N2O को नाइट्रस ऑक्साइड (Nitrous oxide) के नाम से जाना जाता है। नाइट्रस ऑक्साइड एक सुरक्षित और प्रभावी शांति देने वाला एजेंट (sedative agent) है जो ऑक्सीजन के साथ मिलाया जाता है। यदि N2O को एक छोटे से मास्क को पहनकर इसके माध्यम से साँस लिया जाता है जो आपकी नाक को आराम करने में मदद करता है। 

हास्य गैस का उपयोग कहाँ किया जाता है –  

लाफिंग गैस जिसको हम हंसाने वाली गैस की नाम से भी जानते है, इसका प्रयोग आपका डेंटिस्ट (dentist) कुछ दर्दनाक प्रक्रियाओं के दौरान उनको आरामदायक बनाने में मदद करने के लिए करता है।

N2O को हँसाने वाली गैस क्यों कहा जाता है –  

N2O यानि नाइट्रस ऑक्साइड को हँसाने वाली गैस इस लिए कहा जाता है क्योंकि जब इस गैस की गंध श्वसन नली के माध्यम से हमारे शरीर के अन्दर जाती है तो यह हमारे मस्तिष्क पर असर दिखाती है। नाइट्रस ऑक्साइड जैसे ही आपके साँस के माध्यम से अन्दर जाएगी आप कुछ ही मिनटों के भीतर नाइट्रिक ऑक्साइड के प्रभाव को महसूस करना शुरू देंगे। इसके प्रभाव से आप अपने हाथों और पैरों में हल्कापन महसूस कर सकते हैं। कुछ लोग कहते हैं कि उनके हाथ और पैर भारी महसूस होते हैं। आप इस गैस की गंध लेने के बाद शांत और आरामदायक महसूस करते है।

हास्य गैस के दुष्प्रभाव –  

लाफिंग गैस या हास्य गैस हमारे शरीर पर बुरा प्रभाव डालती है। लाफिंग गैस हमारी साँस के माध्यम से अंदर जाती तो इसकी वजह से मतली या उल्टी, सिर दर्द होना, झपकी आना, और अत्यधिक पसीना आना या कंपकंपी होना आदि जैसी समस्या होने लगती है।
