Udaya Kumar, an assistant professor at IIT Guwahati, is the designer of the Indian rupee sign. The design resembles both the Devanagari letter “j” (ra) and the Latin capital letter “R”, with a double horizontal line at the top. The design was selected through an “open” competition among Indian residents. / उदय कुमार, आईआईटी गुवाहाटी में सहायक प्रोफेसर, भारतीय रुपये के चिन्ह के डिजाइनर हैं। डिजाइन देवनागरी अक्षर “जे” (आरए) और लैटिन कैपिटल अक्षर “आर” दोनों जैसा दिखता है, शीर्ष पर एक डबल क्षैतिज रेखा के साथ। डिजाइन को भारतीय निवासियों के बीच “खुली” प्रतियोगिता के माध्यम से चुना गया था।
