16. A wire has a resistance of 16 ohms. It is melted and drawn into a wire of half of its original length. What is the resistance of the new wire ? / एक तार का प्रतिरोध 16 ओम है। इसे पिघलाकर इसकी मूल लंबाई के आधे तार में खींचा जाता है। नए तार का प्रतिरोध क्या है?

1. 4 ohms / ओम

2. 32 ohms / ओम

3. 16 ohms / ओम

4. 8 ohms / ओम

Answer / उत्तर -4 ohms / ओम

explanation  / स्पष्टीकरण :-

let the initial length of d wire be "l "

n d area of cross section be "A"

it's resistance = 16ohm (given)

so 16 = l/ A------(1)

after melting

length of wire =l/2

area of cross = 2A

let d resistance offered be R'

so, R'= l/2 / 2A

R' = l/4A

R'= 1/4(l/A)

R'=1/4 (16) [ by eqn 1]

R'=4 ohm....

Resistance of d new wire = 4 ohm
