Biofortification refers to the breeding of crops to increase their nutritional value. The crops produced through biofortification method are always rich in nutrients like iron, zinc and Vitamin A. for example, Golden rice was produced using the method of biofortification. This rice is rich in beta-carotene and provides vitamin A to the children.

बायोफोर्टिफिकेशन से तात्पर्य फसलों के पोषण मूल्य को बढ़ाने के लिए प्रजनन से है। बायोफोर्टिफिकेशन विधि के माध्यम से उत्पादित फसलें हमेशा आयरन, जिंक और विटामिन ए जैसे पोषक तत्वों से भरपूर होती हैं। उदाहरण के लिए, बायोफोर्टिफिकेशन की विधि का उपयोग करके गोल्डन चावल का उत्पादन किया गया था। यह चावल बीटा-कैरोटीन से भरपूर होता है और बच्चों को विटामिन ए प्रदान करता है।
