Fish breathe in water through gills, but their breathing process begins by taking water into their mouth. This water passes through thin layers like feathers which are present in their gills. These contain a large amount of blood in which the amount of oxygen is less than the oxygen dissolved in water, due to which diffusion occurs and the oxygen goes into the blood. / मछलियां पानी में सांस लेने का काम गिल्स के जरिए करती हैं, लेकिन उनके सांस लेने की प्रक्रिया की शुरुआत पहले उनके पानी को मुंह में लेने से शुरू होती है. यह पानी पंखों जैसे पतली परत से होकर गुजरता है जो कि उनकी गिल्स में मौजूद होती हैं. इनमें बड़ी मात्रा में खून होता है जिसमें ऑक्सीजन की मात्रा पानी में घुली ऑक्सीजन की तुलना में कम होती है जिससे विसरण (Diffusion) होता है ऑक्सीजन खून में चली जाती है.

सबसे पहले तो हम यह जान लें कि पानी में भी ऑक्सीजन घुली हुई होती है. अगर मछली को ऐसे पानी में डाला जाए जिसमें हवा नहीं घुली हुई हो तो वह मर जाएगी. पानी में यह हवा समुद्र और नदियों में चलने वाली लहरों के जरिए मिलती घुलती रहती है. इसी लिए अगर आपने अपने दोस्तों के घर में या कहीं और छोटा फिश एक्वेरियम देखा होगा तो उसमें हवा के बुलबुले पैदा करने का सिस्टम जरूर देखा होगा. इसी से मछलियों के लिए पानी में हवा पहुंचती है./ First of all, let us know that oxygen is dissolved in water also.
