The Quit India Movement, also known as the Bharat Chhodo Andolan, was a movement launched at the Bombay session of the All India Congress Committee by Mahatma Gandhi on 9 August 1942, during World War II, demanding an end to British rule in India. / भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन, जिसे भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन के नाम से भी जाना जाता है, द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के दौरान 9 अगस्त 1942 को महात्मा गांधी द्वारा अखिल भारतीय कांग्रेस कमेटी के बॉम्बे सत्र में भारत में ब्रिटिश शासन को समाप्त करने की मांग को लेकर शुरू किया गया एक आंदोलन था।

After the British failed to secure Indian support for the British war effort with Cripps Mission, Gandhi made a call to Do or Die in his Quit India movement delivered in Bombay on 9 August 1942 at the Gowalia Tank Maidan. Viceroy Linlithgow remarked the movement to be "by far the most serious rebellion since 1857" /क्रिप्स मिशन के साथ ब्रिटिश युद्ध प्रयासों के लिए भारतीय समर्थन हासिल करने में ब्रिटिश विफल होने के बाद, गांधी ने 9 अगस्त 1942 को बॉम्बे में गोवालिया टैंक मैदान में दिए गए अपने भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन में करो या मरो का आह्वान किया। वायसराय लिनलिथगो ने इस आंदोलन को "1857 के बाद अब तक का सबसे गंभीर विद्रोह" बताया।
