Satara was first annexed by Lord Dalhousie under the Doctrine of Lapse. The Doctrine of Lapse was applied by Dalhousie to Satara and it was annexed in 1848. Jhansi and Nagpur were annexed in 1854. As a result of these annexations, a large part of the central provinces came under the British rule. The new province was governed by a Chief Commissioner from 1861./सतारा को सबसे पहले लॉर्ड डलहौजी ने हड़प सिद्धांत के तहत अपने कब्जे में लिया था। व्यपगत का सिद्धांत डलहौजी द्वारा सतारा पर लागू किया गया था और इसे 1848 में कब्जा कर लिया गया था। झाँसी और नागपुर को 1854 में मिला लिया गया था। इन अनुबंधों के परिणामस्वरूप, केंद्रीय प्रांतों का एक बड़ा हिस्सा ब्रिटिश शासन के अधीन आ गया। नया प्रांत 1861 से एक मुख्य आयुक्त द्वारा शासित किया गया था।
