Red light scatters the least by the molecules present in the air. So at sunrise and sunset, the sunlight travels a longer path through the atmosphere to reach our eyes. The blue light scatters the most and has been mostly removed, leaving the red light remaining which reaches our eyes, hence it appears red. / लाल प्रकाश हवा में उपस्थित अणुओं द्वारा सबसे कम प्रकीर्णित होता है। इसलिए सूर्योदय और सूर्यास्त के समय, सूर्य का प्रकाश वायुमंडल से होकर हमारी आँखों तक पहुँचने के लिए एक लंबा रास्ता तय करता है। नीला प्रकाश सबसे अधिक प्रकीर्णित होता है और अधिकांशतः हटा दिया गया है, लाल प्रकाश शेष रह जाता है जो हमारी आँखों तक पहुँचता है, इसलिए वह लाल दिखाई देता है।
