Even today, a village near the Rajarajeshvara temple is called Charupallam, the “Village of the Incline”.

तंजावुर में राजराजेश्वर मंदिर का निर्माण करने के लिए वास्तुकारों ने मंदिर के शीर्ष तक एक झुका हुआ रास्ता बनाया, जिसमें रोलर्स पर एक बोल्डर रखा गया था, जिसे शिखर के शीर्ष तक सभी तरह से घुमाया गया था। आज भी, राजराजेश्वर मंदिर के पास के एक गाँव को चारुपल्लम, “झुकाव का गाँव” कहा जाता है।
