Explanation / व्याख्या :-

The earliest historical evidence of the Sati system is found in an inscription engraved in 510 AD. on a pillar found at Eran near Sagar in Madhya Pradesh, i.e. the Eran posthumous inscription of Goparaja. Ascribed to Bhanugupta, the inscription mentions that his wife followed him on the pyre after his death in the battle against the Hunas.

सती प्रथा का सबसे पहला ऐतिहासिक साक्ष्य 510 ईस्वी में उत्कीर्ण एक शिलालेख में मिलता है। मध्य प्रदेश में सागर के पास एरण में पाए गए एक स्तंभ पर, यानी गोपराज का एरण मरणोपरांत शिलालेख। भानुगुप्त के नाम से वर्णित, शिलालेख में उल्लेख है कि हूणों के खिलाफ लड़ाई में उनकी मृत्यु के बाद उनकी पत्नी भी चिता पर उनके पीछे-पीछे चली थीं।
