Vikramashila was a major center of higher education in ancient India. This education center is located in North Magadh (Present day Bhagalpur district of Bihar). This university was founded in the 8th century by the famous emperor Dharmapala of the Pala dynasty. In addition to Buddhism and philosophy, justice, elements, knowledge and grammar were also studied here.

विक्रमशिला प्राचीन भारत में उच्च शिक्षा का एक प्रमुख केंद्र था। यह शिक्षा केंद्र उत्तरी मगध (वर्तमान बिहार का भागलपुर जिला) में स्थित है। इस विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना 8वीं शताब्दी में पाल वंश के प्रसिद्ध सम्राट धर्मपाल ने की थी। यहां बौद्ध धर्म और दर्शन के अलावा न्याय, तत्व, ज्ञान और व्याकरण का भी अध्ययन किया जाता था।
