Explanation / व्याख्या :-

After the revolution of 1857, in August 1858 the rule of the East India Company was abolished by the British Parliament by passing an act and control of power of India was handed over to the British Emperor. By this act, the Governor-General of India came to be called as Viceroy that is representative of the British monarch.

1857 की क्रांति के बाद, अगस्त 1858 में ब्रिटिश संसद द्वारा एक अधिनियम पारित करके ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी के शासन को समाप्त कर दिया गया और भारत की सत्ता का नियंत्रण ब्रिटिश सम्राट को सौंप दिया गया। इस अधिनियम द्वारा, भारत के गवर्नर-जनरल को वायसराय कहा जाने लगा जो ब्रिटिश सम्राट का प्रतिनिधि है।
