The Bardoli Satyagraha was started in Gujarat in 1928, after the increased in unfair taxes which the farmers of Bardoli had to pay to the British Government. The movement was eventually led by Vallabhbhai Patel, and its success gave rise to Patel becoming one of the main leaders of the independence movement. He got the title of 'Sardar' from the local farmers and peasants due to this Satyagrah.

बारडोली सत्याग्रह की शुरुआत गुजरात में 1928 में हुई थी, जब बारडोली के किसानों को ब्रिटिश सरकार को दिए जाने वाले अनुचित करों में वृद्धि हुई थी। इस आंदोलन का नेतृत्व अंततः वल्लभभाई पटेल ने किया और इसकी सफलता ने पटेल को स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन के प्रमुख नेताओं में से एक बना दिया। इस सत्याग्रह के कारण उन्हें स्थानीय किसानों और किसानों से 'सरदार' की उपाधि मिली।
