The Permanent Settlement of Bengal was brought into effect by the East India Company headed by the Governor-General Lord Cornwallis in 1793. This was basically an agreement between the company and the zamidars to fix the land revenue. First enacted in Bengal, Bihar and Odisha, this was later followed in South district of Madras presidency and Varanasi.
बंगाल का स्थायी बंदोबस्त 1793 में गवर्नर-जनरल लॉर्ड कॉर्नवालिस की अध्यक्षता में ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी द्वारा लागू किया गया था। यह मूल रूप से कंपनी और ज़मीदारों के बीच भूमि राजस्व तय करने के लिए एक समझौता था। इसे पहले बंगाल, बिहार और ओडिशा में लागू किया गया था, बाद में इसे मद्रास प्रेसीडेंसी के दक्षिण जिले और वाराणसी में भी लागू किया गया।
