The only president of the Indian National Congress during the Indian war of Independence who resigned from the Presidency even after being elected was Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose who defeated Pattabhi Sitaramayya by 203 votes in January 1939 in the election of Congress President in Tripuri session and later resigned as Congress president on 23 April 1939. And with in the Congress he established his own party called All India Forward Bloc (1939).
भारतीय स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के दौरान भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के एकमात्र अध्यक्ष जिन्होंने निर्वाचित होने के बाद भी अध्यक्ष पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया था, वे नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस थे जिन्होंने जनवरी 1939 में त्रिपुरी अधिवेशन में कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष के चुनाव में पट्टाभि सीतारमैया को 203 मतों से हराया था और बाद में 23 अप्रैल 1939 को कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया था। और कांग्रेस के साथ उन्होंने ऑल इंडिया फॉरवर्ड ब्लॉक (1939) नामक अपनी पार्टी की स्थापना की।
