बंगाल में अकाल 1943 में पड़ा था। इस दौरान 2 से 3 मिलियन लोग "भूख" से मर गए थे। इस समय वायसराय लॉर्ड लिनलिथगो थे। उन्होंने सैन्य बलों को सामान्य लोगों को आवश्यक सामान वितरित करने का आदेश दिया था।
