Explanation / व्याख्या :-

The Muslims all over the world, regarded the Sultan of Turkey as their Spiritual leader, Khalifa (Caliph). During the first world war, Turkey had allied with Germany & Austria against the British. The Indian Muslims supported the British government during World War-I with an understanding that the sacred places of Ottoman Empire would be in the hand of Khalifa. However, after the war the Ottoman Empire was divide & the Khalifa was removed from power. This angreed the Muslims who took it as an insult to the Khalifa. Shaukat Ali & Mohammad Ali started the Khilafat movement (1919 1924) against the British government.

दुनिया भर के मुसलमान तुर्की के सुल्तान को अपना आध्यात्मिक नेता, खलीफा (खलीफा) मानते थे। प्रथम विश्व युद्ध के दौरान, तुर्की ने अंग्रेजों के खिलाफ जर्मनी और ऑस्ट्रिया के साथ गठबंधन किया था। भारतीय मुसलमानों ने प्रथम विश्व युद्ध के दौरान ब्रिटिश सरकार का समर्थन इस समझ के साथ किया कि ओटोमन साम्राज्य के पवित्र स्थान खलीफा के हाथ में होंगे। हालाँकि, युद्ध के बाद ओटोमन साम्राज्य का विभाजन हो गया और खलीफा को सत्ता से हटा दिया गया। इससे मुसलमान नाराज़ हो गए और उन्होंने इसे खलीफा का अपमान माना। शौकत अली और मोहम्मद अली ने ब्रिटिश सरकार के खिलाफ खिलाफत आंदोलन (1919-1924) शुरू किया।
