After the Independence of India, Mayurbhanj state under Maharaja Pratap Chandra Bhanj Deo acceded to the Indian Union on 1 January 1949 and was merged with Orissa province, which became later the state of Odisha.

भारत की स्वतंत्रता के बाद, महाराजा प्रताप चंद्र भंज देव के अधीन मयूरभंज राज्य 1 जनवरी 1949 को भारतीय संघ में शामिल हो गया और उड़ीसा प्रांत में विलय कर दिया गया, जो बाद में ओडिशा राज्य बन गया।
