The Gateway of India is an arch-monument built in the early 20th century in the city of Mumbai, India. It was erected to commemorate the landing of King George V and Queen Mary, the first British Monarch to visit India. Its construction started on 31 March, 1913 and completed on 1924. The monument is built of yellow basalt and reinforced concrete. The final design of the monument was designed by Architect George Wittet.
गेटवे ऑफ़ इंडिया भारत के मुंबई शहर में 20वीं सदी की शुरुआत में बना एक मेहराबदार स्मारक है। इसे भारत आने वाले पहले ब्रिटिश सम्राट किंग जॉर्ज पंचम और क्वीन मैरी के आगमन की याद में बनाया गया था। इसका निर्माण 31 मार्च, 1913 को शुरू हुआ और 1924 में पूरा हुआ। स्मारक पीले बेसाल्ट और प्रबलित कंक्रीट से बना है। स्मारक का अंतिम डिज़ाइन आर्किटेक्ट जॉर्ज विटेट द्वारा तैयार किया गया था।
