Explanation / व्याख्या :-

Durgabhai Deshmukh was the founder of the Andhra Mahila Sabha and founded it in 1937. She organized Salt Satyagrah during the Civil disobedience movement in Madras and was imprisoned. She was the founder of AMS (Andhra Mahila Sabha) institutions and other important social welfare organizations. he, with the help of two other prominent nationalists (A. K. Prakasam and Desodharaka Nageswararao), started the movement in Madras. She was a member of the Constituent Assembly. She was awarded the Tamrapatra and Paul Hoffman Award after independence in recognition of her service to society. In 1975 Durgabai Deshmukh was awarded with Padma Vibhushan award from the government of India for his Social Work.The Durgabai Deshmukh Award for women’s development was constituted in 1997 by Central Social Welfare Board, an autonomous organization of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, to honour the memory of its founder chairperson Dr. Durgabai Deshmukh.

दुर्गाभाई देशमुख आंध्र महिला सभा की संस्थापक थीं और उन्होंने 1937 में इसकी स्थापना की थी। उन्होंने मद्रास में सविनय अवज्ञा आंदोलन के दौरान नमक सत्याग्रह का आयोजन किया और जेल गईं। वह AMS (आंध्र महिला सभा) संस्थाओं और अन्य महत्वपूर्ण सामाजिक कल्याण संगठनों की संस्थापक थीं। उन्होंने दो अन्य प्रमुख राष्ट्रवादियों (ए.के. प्रकाशम और देसोधरका नागेश्वरराव) की मदद से मद्रास में आंदोलन शुरू किया। वह संविधान सभा की सदस्य थीं। समाज के प्रति उनकी सेवा के सम्मान में उन्हें स्वतंत्रता के बाद ताम्रपत्र और पॉल हॉफमैन पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया। 1975 में दुर्गाबाई देशमुख को उनके सामाजिक कार्यों के लिए भारत सरकार द्वारा पद्म विभूषण पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया। महिला विकास के लिए दुर्गाबाई देशमुख पुरस्कार की स्थापना 1997 में केंद्रीय समाज कल्याण बोर्ड, महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार के एक स्वायत्त संगठन द्वारा इसकी संस्थापक अध्यक्ष डॉ. दुर्गाबाई देशमुख की स्मृति में की गई थी।
