Sunken stomata are found in xerophytes, or desert plants. These plants have a shortage of water, so they take water from the groundwater table. Sunken stomata help prevent water loss through transpiration. / धंसे हुए स्टोमेटा, जीरोफ़ाइट्स यानी रेगिस्तानी पौधों में पाए जाते हैं. इन पौधों में पानी की कमी होती है, इसलिए वे भूमिगत जल स्तर से पानी लेते हैं. धंसे हुए स्टोमेटा, वाष्पोत्सर्जन के ज़रिए पानी के नुकसान को रोकने में मदद करते हैं.

1. धंसे हुए स्टोमेटा को स्कोटोएक्टिव भी कहते हैं / Sunken stomata are also called scotoactive.
2. ये स्टोमेटा, एपिडर्मिस की एक परत में या पत्तियों के नीचे पाए जाते हैं /These stomata are found in a layer of the epidermis or on the underside of leaves.
3. ये छोटे गड्ढे में होते हैं और सतह पर पूरी तरह से दिखाई नहीं देते./They are in small pits and are not fully visible on the surface.
4. ये चषक की तरह धंसे हुए होते हैं/They are sunken like cups.
5. ये रोमों से भी सुरक्षित रहते हैं, जो वाष्पोत्सर्जन की दर को कम करते हैं /They are also protected by hairs, which reduce the rate of transpiration.
