The struggles for democracy in the 19th century were often about values such as political equality, freedom and Justice. It is noteworthy that New Zealand is the country which gave universal suffrage from the 19th century (1893). The age of universal suffrage in India was 21 years in 1950 but it was reduced to 18 years in 1989 through 61st amendment of constitution of India.
19वीं सदी में लोकतंत्र के लिए संघर्ष अक्सर राजनीतिक समानता, स्वतंत्रता और न्याय जैसे मूल्यों के बारे में थे। उल्लेखनीय है कि न्यूजीलैंड वह देश है जिसने 19वीं सदी (1893) से सार्वभौमिक मताधिकार दिया। भारत में सार्वभौमिक मताधिकार की आयु 1950 में 21 वर्ष थी लेकिन 1989 में भारत के संविधान के 61वें संशोधन के माध्यम से इसे घटाकर 18 वर्ष कर दिया गया।
